The Certified Graphics & Web Professional (CGWP) program at Bridgewater State University is a unique series of hands-on, real-world, creative and extremely informative graphic design classes and web design classes. This certificate work-study course has been developed specifically for people seeking to enter the graphic design and web design field in less than a year.
The CGWP is an intense 39-week, 245 contact-hour program that teaches you the skills and concepts required to develop high-end, professional-quality illustrations, layouts and web sites. Through this curriculum you learn advanced design principles and techniques for both print and the Internet, and become proficient in the programs graphic designers and web designers use.
Through independent projects and hands-on labs and training, you advance through a strategically developed curriculum that helps you hone your skills as well as create strong portfolio pieces.
CGWP Classes progress as follows:
CGWP – Part 1 | CGP
- Beginner to advanced vector illustration
- Conceptualization/development of logos and corporate identity
- Photo-editing, photo montages, photo effects and pixel-based illustrations
- Graphic Design & Layout of posters, brochures, direct mail pieces, etc.
CGWP – Part 2 | CWP
- HTML coding
- Web page/Interface development and design
- Slicing and image optimization
- Cascading style sheets
- Vector animation
Additionally, the CGWP covers some common sense advertising and marketing techniques, tips for starting your own design business (including how to get clients and pricing your projects)… And it doesn’t stop there. There are add-on courses and workshops, hands-on training, resume and cover letter assistance and more!
